What is a quantity surveyor?
As a quantity surveyor, your main responsibility is to ensure a construction project runs on or under budget; you’ll work closely with our team of quantity surveyors that comprises a combination of assistant quantity surveyors, quantity surveyors, senior quantity surveyors and managing quantity surveyors, reporting into the commercial director.
What does a quantity surveyor do? Responsibilities include managing the project budget, sourcing sub-contractors and procuring materials for the project. You’ll work closely with the site team to see how the project is progressing and discussion what more can be done to support. It’s a varied role with a mix of on-site and on-site work, no two days are the same; the role can evolve as the project progresses.
You’ll also support the commercial team in winning new work, sourcing quotes on the budget required for the project up to being tendered. How do you become a quantity surveyor? To become a quantity surveyor, you need to have a relevant degree.
